Voices stilled, work done,
They stand
Sulking in the field,
Summer fret
Misting their outlines.
Cut swathes baled.
Red-gold grasses
Gone from the land.
Soon,
The inexorable year begins again;
Sheep dotting the field,
Ram busy begetting his future.
Baler,
Autumnal and still,
Re-grouping, ready.
