Halesworth 2017 Christmas Tree Festival

Venue: St. Mary's Church, Steeple End, Halesworth IP19 8LL link
Open daily from Saturday 25th November to Sunday 31st December, 10am - 3pm.
A big community effort on the theme of 'Christmas Customs'. Come and see around 50 trees, all decorated by local groups, businesses and organisations. All money raised will go to help with the maintenance of this beautiful church.
Ticket Details: Admission FREE but donations very welcome to maintain the church building

Time Out, at Halesworth Library

On Wednesdays from 10:30am to 12pm we host the popular and friendly “Time Out” session. This morning we feature Crafts With Francesca. Come and make some Christmas paper roses with which to decorate your home, or give as gifts. All Welcome. Many thanks to everyone who contributes to this group and makes it so special.

REMBRANDT NOIR; HIS ETCHINGS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE. Rembrandt, the quintessential North European artist, uses print media to do all a painter would do with colour - and more. In this talk, Fiona will investigate how Rembrandt uses black line and dark depth to create a profundity of feeling.

With the Red Barn Chamber Orchestra who return to provide their 5th recital for St.Mary's and their 3rd Christmas recital. Featured works include those by J S Bach, Boyce, Mozart and Handel.

Director Jacques Tourneur was one of the great genre directors and this film is his noir classic. It made a star of Kirk Douglas as Whit Sterling, the ruthless ‘Mr. Big‘, who hires private eye Jeff Bailey to find his absent mistress. When Jeff catches up with sultry Kathie Moffat the inevitable happens and they make the fatal mistake of attempting to outwit Stirling. Stylish cinematography in typical noir style.

Alice in the Cuckoo’s Nest: An original production inspired by the works of Lewis Carroll, lasting approximately one hour with no interval.
Children aged 8+ (accompanied by an adult) are very welcome; please note however that this is not a children’s show, and the production explores adult themes of mental health.
