Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Director Babak Anvari, 2016, IRAN, 84 mins with Narges Rashidi, Bobby Naderi, Avin Manshadi, Ray Haratian.
Chosen as his favourite film of 2016, Mark Kermode in The Guardian awarded this ‘ghostly Iranian gem’ 5 stars. Shideh and her young daughter Dorsa, living in Tehran during the Iran-Iraq war, have plenty of earthly threats to contend with, but after an unexploded missile lodges in their roof Dorsa becomes convinced that they are haunted by a malevolence of supernatural proportions. Spine-tingling and intelligent, it has an atmosphere all its own.
