Open Day at STEAMWORKS

The SteamWorks site in Blyth Road lies adjacent to the 1879 Southwold Railway trackbed and close to the site of Southwold Station. Just ten minutes' walk from the town centre, it is where The Southwold Railway Trust volunteers are working on locomotives and rolling stock, with the aim of re-creating the experience of travelling on the 3-foot gauge Southwold Railway (operated 1879-1929).
Open Days are taking place on selected dates between 14th July and 2nd September - come and see how this site is being transformed, the 3-foot gauge steam engine Scaldwell, the Blyth Valley Light Railway (a 7.25 inch railway), and learn more of what the Trust is achieving. Refreshments available. Shop. All Welcome.

Wild Things in summer: pond dipping at RSPB Minsmere

The penultimate event date for this summer. Join us as we dip our nets into the pond to search for what life is present. Will you find a newt or dragonfly larva or water boatman. Afterwards you can explore the reserve and take part in our free self guided activities as you spot Minsmere's special wildlife. Drop in for as little time or as long as you like during the day.

Textiles Pop-Up

Taking place on Saturday 25th to Monday 27th August inclusive. Fabrics with Glenroy Designs, featuring Friends of Southwold Library with: Craft & Art Book Stall, General Book Stall, Tea, Coffee, and Cakes. All funds towards supporting Southwold Library.

Tours of Southwold Lighthouse

Organised by: Southwold Millennium Foundation
Venue: Southwold Lighthouse, Stradbroke Road, Southwold IP18 6LW link
Built in 1887 and standing 31 metres high Southwold Lighthouse is one of only ten lighthouses which Trinity House open to the public. Tours take place on selected dates March to October inclusive and are organised under licence by Southwold Millennium Foundation. Note that there is a MINIMUM HEIGHT restriction of 1.1 metres tall to climb the tower. Last tour commences 30 minutes before closing time.
Enquire in advance for tour bookings by schools, special interest groups and group bookings of ten or more people.
