Cinema @ The Cut - THE POST (12A)

Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Director Steven Spielberg, 2017, USA, 117 mins, with Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Alison Brie, Bob Odenkirk.
A very timely movie with a courageous, powerful woman at its centre. Katherine Graham, The Post's proprietor, fought sexist directors and lawyers in her determination to reveal the truth at any cost, including closure. The target was The Pentagon Papers, a government study that proved successive administrations had lied about the Vietnam War. With the talents of Spielberg, Streep and Hanks working together for the first time the result has been described as a Rolls Royce of a movie reminding us that liberal decency in America does exist.
Ticket Details: Standard £5, Cinema members £4.
