With Dr.Jane Pearson, who taught history at the University of Essex for many years, specialising in local history. Her talk is a study of nineteenth-century hospitals, in particular looking at why they were necessary, how they were viewed by patients, and how they affected the medical profession's development. The case studies will be taken from Essex and will focus on Colchester.
