Contemporary with England’s greatest landscaper, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, Gainsborough was an originator of the English landscape painting school, were both men painted by Zoffany? We will examine a selection of portraits as well as painted and living landscapes. Art as nature or nature as art?
