Cinema @ The Cut - NOCTURNAL ANIMALS (15)

Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Director Tom Ford, 2016, USA, 117 mins with Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Shannon. Here is a story-within-a-story, each equally compelling. Susan is an art dealer in LA, unhappy with her business and her unreliable second husband. Then she receives a manuscript written by her long abandoned ex-husband Edward, dedicated to her and drawing her into a violent and vengeful place that reflects their former life together. Stylish, with a touch of Hitchcock, it’s compulsive viewing.
