Molière’s comedy in a new translation. Tartuffe, an imposter and religious hypocrite, has wormed his way into the household of Orgon, an ageing man worried about his place in heaven. The besotted Orgon offers Tartuffe his money and his daughter - but Tartuffe wants his wife…
Banned by a religious faction after its first performance, Tartuffe is now one of the most important plays in French theatre and has some of its most sought-after roles. And it is very funny.
