Cinema @ The Cut - CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME (15)

Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Director Marielle Heller, 2018. USA, 107 mins, with Melissa McCarthy, Robert E Grant, Dolly Wells, Christian Navarro.
Five stars. Described as 'a horribly fascinating true-crime black comedy', this is the story of Lee Israel who, failing to earn a living as a biographer, turned her considerable talents to literary forgery. She's far from sympathetic (her only true friend is her cat) but when she and her drinking partner Jack Hock pull the wool over the eyes of literary experts and cynical dealers it's difficult not to cheer her on.
Ticket Details: Standard Ticket £6.00, Cinema Members £4.00
